Bush, Blair Guilty in Malaysia 'War Crimes Trial'

By Agence France-Presse

24 November 11

ormer US president George W Bush and British ex-prime minister Tony Blair were Tuesday found guilty at a mock tribunal in Malaysia for committing "crimes against peace" during the Iraq war.

The Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Tribunal, part of an initiative by former Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohamad - a fierce critic of the Iraq war - found the former leaders guilty after a four-day hearing.

"The Tribunal deliberated over the case and decided unanimously that the first accused George Bush and second accused Blair have been found guilty of crimes against peace," the tribunal said in a statement.

"Unlawful use of force threatens the world to return to a state of lawlessness. The acts of the accused were unlawful."

Mahathir, who stepped down in 2003 after 22 years in power, unveiled plans for the tribunal in 2007 just before he condemned Bush and Blair as "child killers" and "war criminals" at the launch of an annual anti-war conference.

A seven-member panel chaired by former Malaysian Federal Court judge Abdul Kadir Sulaiman presided over the trial, which began last Saturday, and both Bush and Blair were tried in absentia.

"The evidence showed that the drums of wars were being beaten long before the invasion. The accused in their own memoirs have admitted their own intention to invade Iraq regardless of international law," it said.

The verdict is purely symbolic as the tribunal has no enforcement powers.

The tribunal is also expected to later hear torture and war crimes charges against seven others, including former US secretary of defence Donald Rumsfeld and former vice president Dick Cheney.

He was installed, in a coup, as the shill, the con man.
This was (and still is, I guess), an ongoing criminal enterprise; should have been prosecuted under the RICO act:illegal wiretapping=ADMITTED; torture=ADMITTED; illegal invasion and occupation, et alia, incl the "disappearance" of billion-dollar pallets of $100 bills, plus war profiteering on a scale hitherto unseen, or imagined.
Bush v Gore, then 9/11, then the Patriot Act...
THEN the greatest extortion in world history, with Paulson's 3-pg ransom note; yeah, he got the money alright.

The more places this happens, the fewer options for travel remain for Mr. Bush. I wish they had included Mr. Cheney and Mr. Rove....maybe there will be a second trial for those two. MAYBE, there will be a trial in their home country...now there's a dream...

I read something a few days ago about another trial where Cheney, etc. would be brought to trial also for war crimes in Malaysia. I guess they had to define the exact charges for the world leaders first and then go after the others.

I just heard on Russian TV (RT.COM) that other countries want Bush and Blair for war crimes because they had set up prisons in Lithuania and used torture (by the CIA)
I hope Bush tries to take a vacation or something out of USA because there are human rights groups ready to capture him and put him on trial for war crimes.

Cannot believe the USA had a president for 8 years who was no better than Hitler and his henchmen.

If we get another GOP/TP in the W.H. - from the debates on 11/22/2011 - they will take us to another useless war (with Iran) -- but the mountains in that country will be as bad as the ones in Afghanistan.

No wonder the GOP NEED their GUNS and the Supremes uphold the 2nd amendment today (as if it were still the 1700-1800s.

Register early + mail-in ballots & help any Dem district do the same, We've been warned,

VOTE DEM VOTE OBAMA. GO OWS GO WISCONSIN.

"In April, 2009, CIA director Leon Panetta announced that the "CIA no longer operates detention facilities or black sites", in a letter to staff and that "[r]emaining sites would be decommissioned". He also announced that the CIA was no longer allowing outside "contractors" to carry out interrogations and that the CIA no longer employed controversial "harsh interrogation techniques".[103][104][105] Panetta informed his fellow employees that the CIA would only use interrogation techniques authorized in the US Army interrogation manual, and that any individuals taken into custody by the CIA would only be held briefly, for the time necessary to transfer them to the custody of authorities in their home countries, or the custody of another US agency."

It is important that these statements, about mass murderers such as George W. Bush, who believe that they are above the law, be made. Let us consider that in the absence of a judiciary who will act on behalf of the abused of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya in establishing a court by which to hear the truths from all sides, these hearings are the tabling of charges for the world to hear. Given the truth of pernsey's statement that justice can't be made in a system where exclusive money rules, it is up to humanity to reestablish economic justice. Now we are charged with taking steps towards withdrawing our economic and political involvement with these illegal regimes and establishing respectful, caring and welcoming livelihood and governance for all. With economic justice we can establish political justice and finally court justice.

Thank you; that's what needs to be known, and repeated.
Any chance justice for the crimes I mentioned in my...rant is probably gone; they got away with it. The world didn't stop them, but I still think we could have. That's what really bothers many of us, i think, down deep; we let our country be stolen by 5 kings in black robes.
Now, they have one hell of a head-start on us; but there is no other way but to move forward; there are and will be many ways to help each other.
Citizen-legislators and also getting control of our food (and energy) supply; this is absolutely essential ( look what Monsanto and our gov't is (as a unit) attempting in Nepal.)
Who grows your food ?
Who writes your laws ? (who controls your money too dammit)
Failure is not an option; there IS reason to hope, and to plan.
If our hearts are true, conscience clear, mind minding, we may be invincible.

Even he couldn't be so bad by himself, it took an incredible team of jokers to make his administration the worst since at least Harding. I'd tag Cheney for the Energy Task Force/Enron fiasco for starters, and a whole host of others from Brown to Gonzalez, etc, up to the latest, Scott Bloch, former head of the Office of Special Counsel (trying to retract his guilty plea in February 2011). I do respect a few of his appointees, those who resigned instead of continuing in a stifling, incompetent, and (IMHO) corrupt administration. Paul O'Neil, Ari Fleischer and Scott McLellan come to mind as the earliest to resign (by personal choice, without the threat of criminal prosecution). I still can't believe Martha Stewart went to prison and none of his administration did.

I agree with you, until "I do respect..."
Sorry, but no respect for Ari F. -Remember "Watch what you say " ? Part of the treasonous setup for Iraq, that terrorised US.
And his low-profile consulting/govt "work" since
Or that weaselly testimony (also a book ??) given by Scott McLellan; I may be fuzzy on his specifics, but I know that he was a weasel imHo. There's just been so damn many of these types since 1963, 1973, 1984, or so.
They are in crucial positions at pivotal moments-like "Brownie", Robert Owen in IranContra-often apologists, but ALWAYS tools/patsies despite THEIR little fiefdoms.
Notice that they ALL, even Powell's Wilkerson, wait way too long before they tell us they knew it was wrong.

I think that all those 1% above the law types are in greater and greater danger of getting their "just rewards" for the crimes they have committed.
Most of the Bush Administration seem to have disappeared. Can they all be living in "undisclosed" housing. If they aren't constantly looking over their shoulders to see if they are being followed they certainly should be.

Sad thing is they are too stupid to realize that irrational people like them will not stop at wanting them, by their laws, these wronged will go after the family.
Bush, cheney's put their egos first and allow family to be on the chopping block.
I would be afraid for my children, but then I have a heart. I would not have made these universal errors as I have a conscience. I actually do believe in a Creator...I just do not have to go buy him weekly

Boy will they be pissed not to palm a wad of cash into the sweaty fist of their numero uno benefactor in chief.

Life and times of George W. Bush: A spoiled rich kid who got a privileged National Guard draft deferment, from the Vietnam War (1968), gets grounded from his Air Force/NG draft deferment MSO August 1, 1972, becomes a military deserter 1972-73 during war time; gets appointed president by Supreme Court conservatives (2000), authorizes torture on POW’s (2003) and becomes a War Criminal, then crashes the nations economy 2007-08.

This guy is knocking down big bucks writing fiction and telling lies about it? Without the lying enablers the Republican Party would have joined the Wig party, in the trash can, from which it spring.

I am surprised that more isn't said about G.W. Bu$h being the main reason that our country & actually, the whole world, is in the financial stranglehold it's in now (& will get much worse in the times to come)! I can't believe that it is almost even "overlooked" now; just how corrupt & causative Bu$h & Co. were for ALL OF IT!! The housing collapse lies on their 'backs' (due to deregulation & ordering the banks & loan companies to allow nearly ANYONE to buy a house, without any 'guidelines' in place to make sure the people could afford to even think of buying a house)! And on & on -- it would take the rest of the night to list how many ways they went wrong (& seemingly) on purpose, it looks like! The banking crisis, & failures, etc. etc. & of course, with all of the above taking place, any new 'job market' that Pres. Obama was hoping for, went away too! Bu$h & his cronies were just looking out for themselves all along, & wanting to keep their "coffers" replenished no matter what! These were their priorities & it will be more of the same, if the GOP should happen to get back in office in 2012!

I feel no sorrow for the other Countries believing in this Ponzi Scheme Dealer.
I know the big ones over there were well in with the whole scam. The others were too selfish to save their people from their greed. Greece now disgraces the people again by not seeing that People would be the best in helping their Country.
Egypt, the civilized State who wanted a Democracy, be a leader is still forcing Military on those who fought to get their Government back on track. We cheered on their demonstrators now just take a quiet stance in this outbreak.

Liberal_Lady, the conservatives in their deranged state of mind, just pretend the 8 years of Bush ever happened, so they can just keep blaming about Obama for everything. Its amazing they all collectively have A.D.D. and amnesia.

Bu$h & the rest of the guilty ones were practically traitors; as they had a hand in so many things that were absolutely 'criminal'! They have been the cause of the destruction of America as we [& the rest of the world] have always known it! They really must be held to answer for such atrocities that were committed in multiple ways by the 'lot of them'! Starting with Bu$h, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Paulson, et al! Just all of them -- they 'know who they are' (& so do we by now)! They're not in power any longer, & it would be much simpler to make cases against them stick since they are in weak the positions now (& everyone is "onto them" nowadays) when perhaps they weren't before)! WE WANT TO SEE JUSTICE REIGN NOW! And I'm sure the rest of the world would too!

The American policy of military aggressiveness is still going on. It has a global outreach now, in the region of he Pacific. Mr, Obama has already arranged for ongoing American military presence in Australia.
It is a way of living that only the 99% can change. Choose life.

Busn 'n Blair would most likely be convicted in ANY war crimes trial within ANY country - if the truth were not suppressed and withheld by the courts systems' prejudical influence by that country's political arm.

It still seems amazing that we have not even seen an investigation of the Iraq invasion here in the USA.

The war was initiated by lies to the people and Congress. One has to wonder how such a serious affront to our constitution could be so blatantly ignored by an entire Congress and nation as well.

Even worse is how the great hope so many placed in President Obama led to him dropping the whole matter and embracing even more war!

Sorry, but the need for a new party and government is staring us all in the face! The USA has been shamed for an illegal and unjust war of aggression.

For now, we will have to rely on other countries to stand up for justice. Sadly, that speaks quite badly for our country!

A special steamy, sweaty, deep in the jungle jail is just the place for these bods and their gang.
Mr "Holy Catholic convert" Blair could be the prisoner's camp priest and he could report on Bush's attempt to learn Bahasa Malay. And I'd love to see Cheney in a loin cloth. Be a good inverse eco-political-guided-tourist attraction.
I'm fantasizing of course but where's the harm in havin' a chuckle at them? -And I'm glad that the bastards are experiencing at least a measure of restrictions on their freedom to travel (not that Bush did before his illegal term) and Malaysia isn't the only country and they are growing in number.
Karma does exist.

"Former US president George W Bush and British ex-prime minister Tony Blair were Tuesday found guilty at a mock tribunal in Malaysia for committing "crimes against peace" during the Iraq war."

What the heck was "mock" about the tribunal? I didn't detect anything mock-like about it. If the Maylaysians had those criminals in their hands right now they would be behind bars. How "mock" is that?

In 2004 and 2005 my wife and I spent some time on holiday in Italy and we met quite a few people from North America.

To people with our ear we always have a 50/50 chance of identifying if a North American is from the U.S.A. or Canada.

As Aussies, we were considered friendly and 4 out of the 7 couples we met who mentioned they were Americans - not Canadians also admitted that while overseas - THEY WERE PRETENDING TO BE CANADIAN - because as they explained to us they were so ashamed of George W! In my book - that's pretty disgusting they felt they had to do that
