Huff reports: "Purchasing a cup of coffee using cash instead of a credit or debit card, using Google Maps to view photos of sporting event stadiums and large cities, and installing software to protect your internet privacy on your mobile phone - these and many other mundane activities are now considered to be potential terrorist activities by the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

FBI Warning: Cash-Paying Customers May Be Terrorists

By Ethan A. Huff, Natural News

08 February 12

Meanwhile, it appears that the much-hyped threat from 'homegrown terrorists' operating within the US has not materialized. According to a story in The New York Times, a new study found "that 20 Muslim Americans were charged in violent plots or attacks in 2011, down from 26 in 2010 and a spike of 47 in 2009." -- JPS/RSN

urchasing a cup of coffee using cash instead of a credit or debit card, using Google Maps to view photos of sporting event stadiums and large cities, and installing software to protect your internet privacy on your mobile phone - these and many other mundane activities are now considered to be potential terrorist activities by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). And the agency is now distributing a new series of flyers as part of its new "Communities Against Terrorism" (CAT) program that urges shop owners and others to report such "suspicious" activity to authorities.

"The Communities Against Terrorism program is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance through the SLATT Program to provide law enforcement agencies with a tool to engage members of the local community in the fight against terrorism," writes SLATT.org, the program of the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance that is promoting the program, on its website. "To assist law enforcement in the outreach effort, templates of flyers containing potential indicators have been created for distribution to specific industries" (https://www.slatt.org/CAT).

The SLATT program offers both on-site and online training (indoctrination) for coffee shop owners, financial institution employees, tattoo shop artists, and many others into how to spot potential terrorist activities. Included among the many propaganda flyers the FBI is distributing as part of the campaign are ones for how to spot terrorists at local hobby shops and beauty supply stores, for instance, as well as flyers for owners of farm supply and home improvement stores (http://publicintelligence.net).

This little gem warns internet cafe owners to watch out for and report customers that always pay for their coffee with cash, as they could be terrorists (http://info.publicintelligence.net). Another ridiculous flyer intended for owners of boat shops warns them to be on the lookout for people interested in becoming certified scuba divers, as they could be terrorists (http://info.publicintelligence.net).

Be sure to check out the entire set of flyers here: http://publicintelligence.net

A few years ago, this type of outlandish fear-mongering and Stasi-style spying on citizens would have been considered a crazy conspiracy theory by many. But today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with its "See Something, Say Something" campaign, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) "First Observer" citizen spying program, and the TSA's Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response" (VIPR) internal checkpoint force, together with the new FBI spying program, are making this police state nightmare in America a tangible reality (http://www.naturalnews.com/034867_TSA_Super_Bowl_surveillance.html).

No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

Okay, two things: 1--We collect loose change, and use it to pay for coffee/croissants/muffins/etc on occasion. (Ooops, I just gave myself away...;) and 2--After ninelvn, there were flyers everywhere, it seemed, to learn how to scuba dive. And my partner who does and has equipment, and I thought I could learn, and showed interest then. (Oooops, I gave myself away again...Drats!)

If paying for a cup of coffee with cash is a "potential terrorist" activity, what if I pay for gas with cash? I would probably be surrounded by a SWAT Team before I knew what hit me!! Have we lost our freakin' minds?!

Nope,WE have not lost our minds; but our government has become certifiably insane!

Another case of them trying to get Americans using their credit cards for everything for tracking purposes.

I like cash...who knew?

Pernsey: in the eye of the police state mentality we are all potential terrorist. What they fear, is what they are actually creating and bringing on... a real violent revolution...They all live in a very dark paranoid place from where they are suspecious of everyone and everything.
Yes they want us to use credit or debit cards that can be tracked so they know where we are and what we buy... Does anyone still believe the police state is not here already. NDAA was only the beginning, Chapter two begins right after the next election.

As in just about every extreme action I can think of, they can't last long, are a response to either a challenge, an emotional over reaction or a need for attention and are rarely necessary.

This eff bee eye flail, now eleven years in the making is not only psychotic in the vein of a hypochondriac seeing germs and dis-ease around every corner and under every fingernail, but such a press into human activity that one can only envision these cretins as part of the cast in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

AND THEY GOT THE KEYS TO THE MAZERATTI...

So if you've cut all your cards in pieces to get out from under the criminal interest rates that the credit card companies charge, then you're a terrorist. Does anyone else worry more about our protectors than about the terrorists? If the modern version of the Keystone Kops is responsible for protecting us, God help us.

Enough already with the fear factor rationale: sure, all terrorists pay cash, HOWEVER not everyone paying cash is a terrorist!

If "all terrorists eat", does it mean that all people eating are terrorists?!?

if paying cash for coffee is such a threat to The Party, then what does the fbi think about the people writing about and commenting on such bs? Has RSN received a "friendly" flier about spotting "terrorist bloggers"? It probably said something like this:

"People exercising their constitutional rights may be considered terrorists."

Following up after a little reading (from the flier on sleepers):

"Attitude Indicators [of sleepers]:
[...]
 Excusing violence against Americans on the grounds that American actions provoked the problem
 Fury at the West for reasons ranging from personal problems to global policies of the U.S.
 Conspiracy theories about Westerners (e.g. the CIA arranged for 9/11 to legitimize the invasion of foreign lands)
 Accusing the West of trying to destroy Islam"

Commenting on the accuracy of these might be dangerous...

I wonder if they rounded up the family that paid cash for my pickup..?
And now I am worried that there may have been a lot of terrorists at my garage sale... Because EVERYONE paid cash there... A dollar here, two bucks there... JUST OVER TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS IN TOTAL..!!!
Man oh man I am really worried now... the number of terrorists in America must be like--- MILLIONS and MILLIONS..!

Well the FBI doesn't have to worry about me. After I read this article, I went ahead tore up all my cash.
No way I'm taking anymore chances at the checkout counters. I'm doing all I can to support not supporting TERROR-CASH...!

O read that the Treasury is actually decreasing the number of 10 and 20 dollar bills. When I read that they are asking people to report any suspicious activity by their neighbors, I realized that we are now approaching Soviet life under Stalin in this country. The next thing will be a government worker assigned to watch and report the activities of his neighbors, as a paying job. All in the name of security. How do we turn this around?

welcome to big brother state brought to you by the cult of personality sycophants who worship the likes of Obama and spin up any kind of hate for those who dare dissent.

every female has the potential to be a prostitute - the logic is mind boggling.

When the legitimate role of government - to protect person and property - is replace to the role of protecting the government - the sky is the limit on this insanity.

Try to put cash in your retirement fund - ya cant -- it is against the law.

Try to pay for your drivers license (at least in PA) it is against the law.. why is it that government agencies won't take government monopoly money?

From the recently enacted Defense Authorization Act, Americans can sleep easier knowing that they are protected via "indefinite detention "without trial [of] American terrorism suspects arrested on US soil".
Now we know one of the ways by which we can identify these terrorists. [Sure hope we don't elect another Nixon (paranoid) or Reagan (Alzheimer's victim)]. Of course, checking all these cash transactions could require more (bigger) "gummint" workers - but then, it'll only cost about three times as much to outsource the job to Bilgewater or Halliburger and keep support for free enterprise at the core of our protection of FREEDOM ... and protect the concept of "smaller" government.

Signs of the times. I've tried to pay for rental cars in the past with cash -not acceptable-!
I know several people who have no bank accounts whatsoever (and I'm tempted to join them) and pay their bills with either cash or cashier's check -this is handy if you are in Ch7 too.
-And COSTCO has a great line of home safes -are they on a list too?
Screw 'em! It's just more fear-mongering.
Hope they don't look for that bomb I've got stashed in my change jar.

Every time you use a credit card the banks issuing the card get a piece of the transaction (and the merchants raise their prices to make up for the fees they pay).

So who supports making it difficult, dangerous or illegal to pay with cash? Pretty obvious.

Wow, I didn't know that all those Hawaiians were terrorists. A lot of the residents there pay with cash and checks and never have to harsh their buzz worrying about things like phishing for credit card numbers.

If they don't want us to use cash why the in Heaven's name do they print and mint so much of the stuff?

Is the Treasury supporting terrorist because they print and mint cash.

This is pass stupid. And these are the folk that we are suppose to trust to enforce the laws of the land?

The animals are running the Zoo.

Is this for real, or is this someone's idea of a prank? Not even J. Edgar Hoover would be that crazy.

And neither, thank God, are those who run small businesses and chain eateries in this mighty city of New York. Most of them depend on cash-paying customers. Who whips out plastic for a cup of coffee at a diner, anyway?

And what about people who don't buy refreshments at Internet cafés?

The "real" terrorists are in the FBI, the Pentagon, Homeland Security, National Park Police, the Secret Service, and all of the rest of the thousands of police agencies who are all now coordinated to surveil, control, and regulate every move that every human being on earth makes. Welcome to the United States of Surveillance.

Every since credit cards began being swiped, the FBI has monitored and stored in its West Virginia databases every credit card purchase made in the US and all over the world. They use this data to create profiles of all humans on earth and, they think, to spot potential terrorists and criminals.

Cash is untraceable. Pretty soon, cash will be eliminated. There will only be debit and credit cards.

Clearly terrorism is not the problem here. There is no terrorist threat in the US or world. The real threat to human beings is the imperialism of the US/Israeli regimes. For now, they just want to scare us into accepting more wars all over the world. But soon, the war will go internal and the suppression by force of the domestic population will ratchet up. It has been in full operation against African American men for 3 decades with the phoney drug wars.

This is from one of the posters cited in the article --

"Some of the activities, taken individually, could be innocent and must be examined by law enforcement professionals in a larger context to determine whether there is a basis
to investigate. The activities outlined on this handout are by no means all-inclusive but have been compiled from a review of terrorist events over several years."

This sort of thinking is pure fascism. Gee some of what I might do may be innocent but I need to check with law enforcement professionals to be sure. The FBI is the real criminal organization. It was started in order to destroy labor unions. It has always worked on the side or organized crime and corporations to destroy the desires of people for freedom and self-determination.
