LAPD in 'Joint Military Training' Exercises in Downtown LA
24 January 12
f you notice a heavy military presence around downtown Los Angeles this week, don't be alarmed - it's only a drill.
Joint military training exercises will be held evenings through Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD will be providing support for the exercises, which will also be held in other portions of the greater Los Angeles area, police said.
Training sites "have been carefully selected to ensure the event does not negatively impact the citizens of Los Angeles and their daily routine," a department official said.
The training, which a department official said would involve helicopters, has been coordinated with local authorities and owners of the training sites, police said.
Police said safety precautions have been taken to prevent risk to the general public and military personnel involved.
The exercises are closed to the public, police said.
The exercises are designed to ensure the military's ability to operate in urban environments, prepare forces for upcoming overseas deployments, and meet mandatory training certification requirements, police said.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.
General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember your Second Amendment and keep your enemies close. I think a hear a train a comin'.
Hey, I like that: It could be a universal symbol that both the right and the left could agree upon, kind of like the "Don't Tread On Me" snake, only better. It's a train of cattle cars being loaded with people. Or better yet, to simplify it, just a train coming toward you on some tracks. Everyone gets that. Dibs on the copyright! I can see the T-shirts now, selling like hot cakes at the OWS rallies this spring!
Was it just popped on them as a done deal, so they didn't really think they were even allowed to voice opposition? Or are they actually behind this?
I guess I'm just a little surprised that the first time I hear about it is on RSN. Oh well, maybe it's been all over the T.V. Since I killed my T.V. I am now ignorant of all important goings-on in the world.
gosh, things happen quick
unless they feel like it.
The military may be preparing for "upcoming overseas deployments" - but at the same time they are being prepared for a homeland battlefield.
The Italian, German, and Jepanese ultra-nationalist takeovers actually happened to peoples who thought themselves civilized and secure. I swear that it is happening to America now. If we can't stop this, the next world war may star US as the bad guys.
End of my rant . . . for now.
It will come again. The preparations began a while back, most especially under George W. A crap load of people have been warning of the coming put down of citizens.
Besides, it's just so much fun to play with all their new toys!
Why is it that the people always become the enemies of the state. Governments which are said to represent people always seem to end up pointing guns at these people and herding them around like cattle.
IT is time for the USG to just go away. What good does it do?
