Like Supreme Court Justice Roberts, these conservative lawyers demonstrate complete detachment from the liberal disciplines of human culture and history. They are logic robots, and as such, in turn, demonstrate the low "bar" that the legal community establishes for the right to practice law in America. They are "intellects" compartmentaliz ed from human values. They reinforce a tradition of pragmatism and cynicism favoring the protection of power, not the rights of the individual.

John Yoo is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, which will not sanction Yoo for his professional conduct in this matter, regardless of anything. See http://www.snewcomb.net/yoo/killian-yoo-response.pdf, which comes directly from the horse's mouth. One can only conclude that the Pennsylvania Bar expects very little from its members, at least in terms of professional integrity. So this whole business of getting the Bar to sanction Mr. Yoo is a non-starter, and is probably merely dilatory. It certainly isn't dangerous to Mr. Yoo's interests. It's just a routine demonstration of the power of the military-industrial complex to corrupt the professionals of America, thus to nullify the force and effect of the U.S. Constitution. Mr. Yoo is being carefully protected, and his plum job at UC Berkeley is part of that protection.

The so called war on terror was never declared a war on any country. The war on drugs is not declared on any country. When we detain drug related criminals who are citizens of another country, we try them as criminals, not prisoners of war. The war on terror really isn't so different except of course, that the victims of terror are so much fewer by far than the victims of illegal drugs. Hmmm... Since terror, which is so less consequential to public safety than is illegal drug use, shouldn't we just charge those accused of terrorism with crimes and try them in a public court of law? The problem of course is that just as you could get few if any successful convictions against drug traffickers if they were as terribly abused as those accused of terror, it stands to reason that in any normal court of law, it would be hard to convict terrorists as well. Since the war on terror is a police action, shouldn't the enforcers be subject to the same standards of conduct with prisoners? Free them.

Even our youngsters notice the evilness of these practices. We are putting all citizens and our military in very bad positions....no wonder other countries hate us. I fear for when it's our turn to be on the receiving end of these behaviors. Where will our former leaders be??? Hiding...as they are now.

It is astounding that America, a supposed land of laws, not a land of lawlessness, finds itself in a position where we cannot even prosecute, or for that matter even investigate, or fully understand, the most horrendous crimes of those once in public office. The Bush Administration, was a rogue administration, which chose to make the story up as it went along. From environmental posts, to FEMA, political hacks, incompetents, and cronies, were placed into positions of trust. We are now reaping the results. There will be no acconting of these crimes until the people get angry, and demand an accounting. A society that sanctions torture of "terror suspects", is but a short step away from torture of its own citizens. Our government is broken. The current state of affairs, much like the former state of affairs, finds our elected representatives lobbied by powerful corporate interests, or lobbied by "think tanks", which are schills for corporations. This must change, or democracy dies.
