Excerpt: "The armed wing of the Islamic organization [Hamas], which is virulently opposed to the negotiations, claimed responsibility for the 'heroic operation' in which its militants attacked a car on a main road close to the city. The army said that the victims were two men and two women, one of whom was pregnant, from a nearby settlement."

The problem with these reports is they are automatically viewed with suspicion. Israel has lied about various and sundry events in the past as well as having been caught posing as Palestinians lobbing small rockets into Israel.

Of course, extreme members of the Palestinian community just might be capable of this.

A tidbit of food for thought: why are the atrocities perpetrated by Israelis rarely reported?

Hebron, a turbulent city in which a core of hardline ideological Jewish settlers are protected by hundreds of Israeli troops amid a Palestinian population of more than 100,000, has been the scene of numerous violent attacks from both sides of the conflict.

http://www.imemc.org from the other side - and some food for thought:

124 Israeli children have been killed by Palestinians and 1,441 Palestinian children have been killed by Israelis since September 29, 2000.

Israelis and Palestinians Killed

September 29, 2000 - 1,072 Israelis and at least 6,348 Palestinians have been killed since September 29, 2000

John, regardless of the difference in style, these exercises are no different than what I saw from the ROTC when in high school. A fighting mentality is instilled in many young people, whether for religious reasons, patriotism, or due to a group of people being boxed in and fighting for their right to exist. Ever wonder why Iran has become as defensive and militaristic as it is? Boxed in. They haven't attacked any country for a couple of centuries at least. They now feel threatened.

The U.S. of course, is recruiting any and all who will follow, including mercenaries. Those mercenaries have Hamas beat. How 'bout those weapons in the hands of a full fledged military in Israel.

Little children of Hamas don't stand a chance, regardless of their training.

"The attack came hours after 10 armed settlers opened fire at three Palestinian teenagers as they tended to their land in the Salfit district village of Deir Istiya, the mayor said. There were no reports of injury."

No, violence does not justify violence. But, as Glen said, why do Palestinian atrocities get reported in the mainstream media and Israeli atrocities don't make it past small regional news outlets? I think it's because you can't paint Palestinians as "terrorists" if you admit they are being provoked.

Your information, Allison, is what the news hungry U.S. is never privy to, and you put it nicely that Palestinians truly are provoked.

Whenever Netanyahu opens his mouth he is lying or omitting information. He is, in many ways, more powerful than the president of the U.S. Just ask George W. about that.

Glen, Have you considered joining the Iranian military? Have you ever heard about the Iran\Iraq war? Featured sending children to trip mines to clear the way for the older soldiers to attack the enemy. Way to go, freedom fighters!
