Good news, Obama's running a more "open" White House. Bad news, US covert military activity world-wide is expanding.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

The political and cultural deterioration of the United States continues. Congress will give the President any amount of money he wants for the purpose of killing people (even Americans). Like Mr. Bush before him, Mr. Obama is far more concerned about financing his political fortunes through corporate donations from conglomerates that receive billions in taxpayer dollars for their lethal services than he is about peace, the welfare of the people of his own country, and other normal, humanitarian concerns. America is far and away the most militaristic and deadly country in the world, and its government prefers global dominance and control to democracy anywhere, even democracy in America. Regrettably, the policies behind this perspective are supported by both national parties. Mr. Obama should not have been a surprise to anyone.

Agreed, Dave. These operations have been developing for decades and U.S. citizens, most of them, don't appear to recognize the changes in the federal government. Of course, the machine provides entertainment enough to encourage antiquated thinking, as if the U.S. is stalled in the 1940's, Democrat vs. Republican, liberal vs. conservative, us against them.

This is not a football game we are playing here, regardless of the rah rah mouthpieces encouraging that attitude. It is deadly serious and infecting the entire planet. It will come back on the U.S. eventually. Guaranteed.

These 'Special Forces' kinda remind me of Germany's elite 'Special Forces' in WW2, they were named 'Waffen SS Divisions'

Voting Green is now the ONLY option to keep America safe. The back lash of the current aggression by both major parties & their corporate masters will be horrendous.
Our children will suffer greatly unless we change this current pattern of aggression.

My guess is that special forces could have surgically removed Osama Bin Laden without admitting that we were even there.

Are some of you now saying that we must conduct full military operations, involving all of the no-bid contractors and without a declaration of war by the Congress?

Could have, bicfj, but bin Laden is no doubt dead from his kidney disease. Countries that have truly kept up and are better informed pretty much think the same. Bin Laden was not a well man.

Some of these same countries and journalists, et al., have also reported on and interviewed some of the people who were supposed to have been on the planes that hit on 9/11.

Prior to Bush being handed the office of president, countries did cooperate with each other in tracking down terrorists. Bush and his people taught the world how to attack countries and kill thousands to get a handful of people. Unless you want to count the mission to get Noriega - never mind.

Glen, I am very interested in reading about any interview of people who were supposed to have been on the planes that hit on 9/11. Can you provide URL links? thanks
