This bill is an abomination- forcing people to buy health insurance may be unconstitutiona l. The bill is a cop-out to the insurance companies who will then have an automatic built-in customer base. What are these people thinking? Give us Medicare for all. If it's good enough for people over 65, it's good enough for everyone else. And lets do away with the special insurance that congresspeople get.

Congress gets the same insurance that the rest of federal employees get (which is about the best deal available in this country, but it's not just for elected Congresspeople. That is unless they are old enough for Medicare.

But, yes, I honestly believe that forcing people to buy something just because they are alive can't be constitutional. Requiring car insurance is different because anyone can choose to not buy a car, but we're not allowed to not be alive (not that we'd choose that). Improved, expanded Medicare for All, House Bill 676, is the one that makes the most sense, but it seems to have disappeared.
