House Anti-Abortion Democrats are busy in the background trying to reshape, at the 11th hour, the health care reform bill.

This Stupak crap is ridiculous. Don't they realize, as Senator Klobuchar has confirmed, the bill does NOT change current federal law re: funding for abortion?

The thing is they WANT to change current law & they want to use this bill as a vehicle to do so. They also want their conservative constituents to see their public posture... Quoting TMB:

TMB, the problem is that they DO realize the bill wouldn't change federal law re: funding of abortion, and they want it to change in a manner that makes it impossible for anyone to secure or provide private funding of abortion, either. As I said in another forum, I'll go with Stupak's amendment (and wear an "I'm with Stupak --->" T-shirt) if he'll reciprocate with an amendment that prohibits any federal funds from going to any corporation that sells firearms in the private marketplace. Tit for Tat. Stupak doesn't want federal dollars to be used to do business with anyone who uses private dollars to terminate pre-sentient life forms; I don't want federal dollars to be used to do business with anyone who uses private dollars of post-sentient life forms to enable termination of anyone else (note that my suggested amendment wouldn't even violate anyone's 2nd Amendment rights).
