John N. Lewis marched with Martin Luther King Jr. and they said it then, today Lewis is marching with Obama and they're saying it again.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

The personal attacks against Barney Frank and John Lewis are an indication of the mental and intellectual deficits of these protesters. We are 37th in health care delivery in the world which doesn't say much for our "First Class Medicine" does it? ANYTHING is better than what we currently have and, Hopefully, once passed will be amended to include ALL Americans in a single payer system along the lines of Medicare for all. Why these cretins are protesting something that can SAVE THEIR LIVES is a mystery to me.

When peaceful, respectful people protest wars or advocate for single-payer health care they get arrested and thrown in jail. When a hateful, angry mob barely refrains from physical violence, one man gets arrested and let go right away.

What message is congress sending Americans when they allow arrests and jailing for calm demonstrations, but drop charges – if any are filed at all – when protestors lose control?

"Most were affiliated with so-called tea party organizations..."

Speak up Tea Partiers and Republicans. Your members are venting their hate. Is this what you're really about? If you have to rely on the loyalty of hatemongers to maintain your base, what does this reveal about you?

(Purely rhetorical I assure you.)

If one recalls the original "Tea Party" dressed themselves as Native Americans to avoid responsibility. They [the TPs] must feel the same way Boer Whites felt in South Africa towards the end of the Apartheid Regime. Surrounded and out numbered and "They" have the cornered mentality of of viciousness. How would you say it? Viciousness in the defense of racism is ...

The Repugnican hate mongers will have plenty to answer for if they succeed in fomenting the kind of ugliness their anti-Obama, anti non-White statements and actions seem to be intentionally encouraging. One can only hope that as they swagger into their churches today and hear their pastors and bishops inveigh against health care reform, they will consider what evils their work have wrought and begin to beg for forgiveness.

One word. NAZIS!

Whether it's healthcare, ending the war, or any other issue the right is well organized and will resort to blatant bigotry to get their point across.

Some will argue that they are merely expressing their right to "free speech." However free speech does not give anyone the right to incite violence or spew out hate!

Thousands, MY ASS, William Douglas. Where were you when half a million protested the war in the streets of New York and again in DC? There were, at best, a couple hundred lunatics at that WELL PUBLICIZED "rally" yesterday. What's your agenda anyway?

It is evident that the hostility has continued since the Civil War, and that the folks comfortable with this mentality are promoters of ignorance and hatred of anyone or anything not like themselves.

maybe this needs to come to a head so that we may all progress to a truer democracy...with liberty and justice for all.

Heal care by itself is not cause for this heated mob behavior. Racism strikes closer to the mark and the talking heads of Fox and others have fed this flame of intolerance to a point where there may be no turning back. I hope they (the Hate Mongers of Fox and Friends) reap what they have sown. Discourse and Debate is a lost art in this atmosphere of hate. Thanks to the Progressives and Liberals there is still hope for polite conversation and disagreements without rancor.

Any doubt who these tea baggers are now? The are the Sans Sheets wing of the republican party. Be careful now republicans remember what happened to Danton and Robespierre. You have started a movement you no longer control. This is the underfunding of American schools come home to roost. Ignorance, racism, sexism and fear are all the Sans Sheets have learned in their lifetime. Their enablers from Fox "News" to Hte Radio and the blue dog likes of Bart Stupak and his band of merry mysogynists have come to the aid of the Sans Sheets. Change is difficult and we are seeing the backlash of angry old white guys desparate to be exploited by the economic royalist or monied class of America. I watched them foaming at the mouth and screaming and spitting in the Halls of Congress and thought, my god, we have become one of THOSE countries. Why isn't the media telling us who paid for the buses to transport these people, why no background checks on the new Joe the Plumbers in their ranks. So many questions.

Racial hatred is a well hidden establishment in the USA. The Republican Party has now adopted it as a source to destroy our civil rights. Are we going to let them do it? Like the Nazis of yesteryear, they rely on decent people to just shake their heads. Are we going to let them do it?

The judicial system in the USA, which is compromised of 5 degenerate conservative republicans, are not going to do anything about it. Perhaps we should demonstrate at the courts for want of justice!

It has come to that in the USA!

I get a lot of out-of-context anti-liberal and closet-racist stuff on the e-mail circuit, the writer challenging that it doesn't appear in the liberal main-stream media. I wonder how Fox News is handling this n-word/tea party bit.

I will dance in the streets when Rush Limbaugh leaves and only hope he takes that nut Glen Beck with him. We have enough of their hate on tv and radio.

Sorry if this is repetitious. I don't think my first posting attempt worked.

I lot of anti-liberal stuff comes around on the e-mail circuit, out of context and not particularly well written, with someone challenging why there hasn't been more about it in the allegedly-biased main stream media.

I wonder how Fox News is dealing with this Tea Party/N-word bit. I doubt Limbaugh will touch it with a 10-foot pole, unless the racist part is edited out.
Fox is about as "main stream" as it gets these days if one's talking viewers or readers.

Are these the real "ugly Americans"?

I'm a Canadian watching what's going on in your country. I am sick of seeing witnessing what could be a great country gradually sink into an angry, hateful, ideological, rigid, ignorant, self-destructive mob. If only the country could collectively "wake up" and ask "what are we doing to ourselves, our country?". The US "brand" is rapidly losing its value in the world. I care about this. Why is it that so many Americans do not?
