The report begins: "One week ago, Rupert Murdoch's longtime aide, Les Hinton, was forced to resign as publisher of the Wall Street Journal because of the central role he'd been playing for years in News Corp.'s unraveling phone-hacking scandal. Hinton's resignation, unthinkable just four weeks ago, signaled the severity of News Corp.'s woes in America. Now another Murdoch publisher, Paul Carlucci, who oversees the New York Post, may be facing renewed questions from prosecutors about his business past and what role he played in a News Corp. computer hacking scandal that unfolded right here in the US."

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

As I have been saying for weeks now, if you Americans think that the NoW hacking and other illegal activity is confined to that one newspaper and only this country where I currently live then you are sadly mistaken. I believe (knowing US papers quite well that it is probably more prevelant there than here.

By the way, I was in Atlanta on business the day the second Gulf War started and ALL of the Georgians were saying 'we're going to go over and kick some ass.' having lived for many years in the UK and having dealt with external and internal strife I told them that it wouldn't be easy and that they had to be prepared for the long haul and much bloodshed. I was laughed at and toldthat I didnt understand America. I did understand America and I have been proved correct.

And I will be proved correct on this one also if only a few of your journalists have the balls to take on Murdock and show him for the lying and deceitful bastard that he is. Let's bring down the Murdock empire, especially that right wing machine otherwise known as Fox which doesn't give a toss about the truth. It is only interested in telling you Americans what Murdock wants to tell you. Why are you listening to an Aussie?

The author is mistaken about something, and misses a very significant point in this article. In the movie "untouchables," Capone takes a baseball bat not to a "rival's" head, but to the head of a lieutenant who is not a "team" player. What this says about the cultural environment within that work place is important.

THIS is what is wrong with "Big News Media" today. Unscrupulous Hacks like Rupert Murdoch have so poisoned the Well that NO one is free of the taint and stench of his and his ilks' filthy grasp. He Perverted The Wall Street Journal, as well as The New York Post but his "Flagship" of SHAME is, of course, "Fixed News" where "fair and Balanced" became a euphemism for "Putridly Unfair and Sickly One-sided"! His is an Empire based on LIES, on top of LIES, on top of MORE LIES! Hopefully, his day of reckoning is at hand. Still, he'll probably squeak by with a Tsk,Tsk, "Shame on you"! and a mediocre Fine. The World has lost it's Moral Compass, but, worse than that, so have WE! WHERE is Justice? Somebody? ANYBODY?

I love the way the right wing is coming to murdoch's defense and lecturing us about all the "isolated incidents" and "bad apples".

The more the right-wing attaches itself to fox the harder it will be to unattach itself later as more of the truth comes out.

All of his mass communications licensing should be revoked, in the U.K., in the U.S. & anywhere else he delivers his stench.

Well, it couldn't happen to a better guy, i say . . . may (Fox) Faux News and their team of liars be the next to fall in what appears to be just the tip of the poisonous iceberg that is Murdoch's empire of lies!

Colbert and Jon Stewart both had good takes on the unfolding information about Murdoch's employees' methods, and Stewart addressed specifically the lack of coverage and the downplay by FOX news outlets of the stories. Most amusing. Predictable, but amusing.

If we are dependent on Holder to prosecute this...I wouldn't hold my breath! His pro-business, no ball approach as AG will probably net him a job at newscorp after all is said and done!

There can be no doubt: The slime and ooze that emanates from anything or anyone associated in any degree with News Corp and Rupert or James Murdoch taints, corrupts, degrades and rots all it touches. Never has there been, even during the Joe McCarthyism era, such a cancerous slur across the face of journalism. As with all things rancid, Murdoch associated “news” destroys itself from the decay within it. Journalists beware!: If your name is associated with News Corp, you should be aware that REAL halls of journalism are going to “black ball” you. Get out now, while you can use the defense that you do not want your name tainted by, or associated with, that corporation or their owners. If you procrastinate, your career may take a serious, detrimental, “hit”.
