Report begins: "More than seven years after US troops first invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003, President Obama addressed the nation on Tuesday to commemorate the official end of the Iraq War. However, the legacy of one of America's longest combat missions will continue to affect the thousands of troops who came home suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries."

My PTSD went untreated for 30 years, a period ending with severe crisis. Things are going well now and have been since I got treatment outside of the military establishment. I have benefits that are due me, I have ongoing costs I pay for myself. I refuse to deal with the VA medical establishment and I am one of the lucky one's. I acknowledged then as I still believe, that the government doesn't really give a damn about me and I have been lucky to have the means to heal on my own. It's been very difficult.
So many friends have suffered. So many have died since suffering in a silent misery born of neglect.

I am making a career now of treating PTSD victims. It's the least I can do. The rest of us should do something, anything. We must be the conscience that our government seems to be incapable of having. When is our society going to step up to the plate and do the right thing?
