The Israeli militarists appear to resent outsiders coming to Israel telling them how to live, so did Bull Conner and the Klan. What is Israel if it cannot sustain non-violent demonstration?

I wonder when Israel will wake up to realize that with each violent act toward the innocent, they condemn themselves in the eyes of the world. There is no justification for IDF actions.

Israel and surrounding areas have been a colossal clusterf**k since its [artificial] creation in 1947.

Israel's most recent actions as the U.S. proxy in the region are simply increasing its store of bad juju. (pun intended)

Nothing good will come of this; that's easy to see.

I am amazed at the silence on this repeat strategy of Israel. A few years ago it was known how the IDF broke the arms of kids who threw stones. Then it was reported that they were targeting the eyes of witnesses and people. I cannot help but wonder whether they knew this woman was an artist and intentionally targeted her vision. It sickens me to think of this country's inhumane violence and its concommitt and guilt tripping of the world to get away with its incredible chutzpah.

Adoregon's impulses are correct, but he has the equation backward. Israel is not the U.S. proxy in most instances, the U.S. is Israel's proxy, year after year. The U.S. has no reason to contemplate war with Iran over nuclear issues, nor does Israel. But Israel wants war, and is working overtime to push the U.S. into supporting its bellicose policies, and inevitably war. Israel acts independently, deciding for itself what its policies and tactics should be. Remember, it is the only "ally" that has attacked a U.S. Naval vessel, the USS Liberty, without provocation. It then covered up the attack with a lie, that the U.S. Government knew to be a lie, but which we accepted publicly. It's plea, voiced repeatedly by AIPAC, that it is the only U.S. ally in the Middle East is increasingly transparent also as a lie.

Keith is absolutely correct. US of A is Israels proxy....and to it's own detriment. Look at your senators and congressmen. For the 1 1/2 % of the Jews in America the US has a total imbalance of Jewish lawmaker, lawyers, BANKERS (who are responsible for the recent financial meltdown) etc., etc. Americans, do not complain, you vote them into office and their money decides your fate.
Israel was built on the holocaust lie, 90 some % of Americans believe in that lie. Why? Jewish Hollywood keeps making holocaust films, the media keeps talking about the 6 million (another lie). And anybody saying anything about Israel is branded an "ANTI-SENITIST".

Your at it again. It is persons like yourself Rom 120, that destroy the credibility of others who genuinely deplore Israels actions. By denying the Holocaust you destroy their believability by expounding another untruth. Once again I ask you for the names of the Jewish scholars who are "distancing" themselves from the Holocaust. That the Germans killed 6 million Jews is proven by the records kept by the Nazis themselves. But that fact does not give Israel the right to become the monster they were fighting.
Please start with the truth so we can discuss the current issues with the truth.

One of these days perhaps you will respond to my request for the names of the Jewish scholars who are Holocaust deniers. Actually, I don't think you will because I don't believe they exist.

My Grandfather was a kind and gentle man, without prejudice. He studied biochemistry in England and Germany in the '20s.

He told me that when Germany had terrible economic times before WWII, that the Jews of Germany used money from their family members overseas and bought up a disproportionat e amount of homes, lands, businesses, etc. This led many Germans to say that these persons were Jews first and Germans second and for this they were hated.

It seems logical that when Hitler wanted scapegoats, that he chose the Jews and the Germans were happy to see that the Jews were having problems, though I am sure that they would not have wanted a holocaust.

But the German Jews set themselves up with selfish behavior. I heard this personally from my grandfather 60 years ago and I have never heard another person speak of what my grandfather observed and reported to me.

Yes and many people with ignorant beliefs are kind and gentle, including the Nazis. This is not a decent test for truth or reality. I have heard similar arguments but it is mired in justification for mass murder of a population. The Jews were actually assimilated in Germany more than in pretty much any other society in Europe and strongly identified themselves as Germans. However, as members of an ancient lineage that is the basis for the majority of the world's sacred texts, Jews strongly identify with being Jewish before their country. This made them easily identifiable and also easy to scapegoat for their usual success due to maintaining strong cultural and familial relations as well as a commitment to scholarship.

JL, It would be difficult to equate the Jewish failure to be accepted throughout history with any one instance. However, "the world owes us a living" comes through a little too loud and clear.

It's past time to stop Israeli human rights violations. Israel is a failed church state dependent upon financial aid from the USA. After 60 years of failure the USA needs to admit that Israel is a failure. It's time for Israel to fend for itself and stop draining the USA treasury.

What do the bigots in Israel care? As long as slave America supports her, she can -- and damned well will -- continue to ignore the humanity of any opposition.
But sorry, Dick Pritchard, Israel is not a failure. She is a whopping success in evil.

The Hollocaust was real. And what's left of its survivors condemn the recent behavior of Israel fully, they do not embrace it. Further, it is Jewish activists that speak out against Israel's atrocities and lead the way for the peace movement. Also in support, a reenergized Jewish youth movement demands peace both inside and outside Israel. It is only a matter of time before these forces are heard by everyone and justice will finally prevail.

Ms. Klein's ignorance willful blindness is staggering. These artists, etc. were set up as palatable martyrs by the Hamas-led IHH. IHH denies Israel's right to exist. If that is your position as well, then this will never end. Five minutes of unedited video-watching puts the lie to the innocent little activist theory, but that would require some investigation, and opinion with no back-up is easier. Israel is a secular modern county with a vibrant intelligent media and room for all peaceful people. There are many mosques and Arabs, Turks, Bedouins, and other "believers" are incorporated in the very fabric of the society. The vicious stupid ignorant "leftists", and I am very left, are disingenuous. If they deny Israel's right to exist, they should say it. If they don't, then they'd better think about the logical consequences of supporting those who would "drive all the Jews int the sea", as Hamas and the IHH have openly declared

So my choices are 1) deny Israel's right to exist, or 2) deny Emily Henochowicz's right to protest without being permanently maimed?

I deny that those are my only choices.

I couldn't agree more. As soon as someone criticizes Israel they are dubbed as anti-Semitic. I do abhor Israels fascist tactics and I am Jewish. It reminds me of those absurd bumper stickers: "America, love it or leave it." Is it not possible to love a child but want to see them improve their behavior? Is that not also applicable to a ones country? I believe in Israel's right to exist and deplore Hamas' (and Iran's and other bad actors) attitude of pushing Israel and all Jews into the sea.

Finally, lest we forget. Arabs are Semites too.

I deplore the cold and heartless way that Israel has behaved toward unarmed protests!
And...yes they did suffer at the hands of Hitler...of that there is ample proof! BUT..
a couple of million Catholics were murdered by Hitler as well! No movies are made honouring them

Underlying the whole unfortunate situation in the Middle East and all the tit for tat is one underlying truth. If Hamas and all other radical Arab organizations that profess to have the best interests of their people at heart would publicly eschew violence and follow up by doing so, there would never be another Arab killed or injured by Israel. A week later the borders would open to goods and by the end of the month Arabs would once again be allowed to work in Israel. By the end of one year, the West Bank and Gaza would be blooming at a rate that today seems impossible.

William, things are a little more complicated than you've explained, with the constantly aggressive tactics of taking other's lands and building housing for Israelis. At this point, blaming one side for many wrongs committed by both sides is futile. The enormity of these provocations can only be settled by outside, international arbitration. Unfortunately, the parties involved are too emotional and irrational to manifest Peace on their own.

Keith's comments are OK, except the part about the US has "no reason to contemplate war with Iran over nuclear issues." While going to war with Iran is a last option, it's clear that Iran would love to have a bomb ... and use it. A war plan is necessarily part of the political planning process. Remember, Iran has been the only country to violate the sanctity of diplomacy by holding embassy personnel hostage. They deny the holocaust. They hate the West. They appear likely to use a bomb if they get one.

Israel's 'blockade' is a crime against humanity, clear and simple.Yes Hamas are some pretty bad actors in this horror movie, but Israels behavior is self defeating and they will never find peace with there policies. In fact their policies are creating groups even 'more' extreme than Hamas, and that's an even bigger danger.
