Amy Davidson begins: "How solid, or how cheap, was the New York Post's charge that the hotel housekeeper who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of raping her, in the Sofitel in midtown, was a prostitute - or 'hooker maid,' as the paper put it (in a headline), or 'maid/hooker' (in a caption)?"

In Paris, news, and with it opinion of the DSK affair have taken a sharp turn. (photo: Reuters)

No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

When a guy has a lot to lose for committing rape, he lies to get himself off. No woman would go thru getting raped all over again by the system by choice, only if she were actually raped. I believe she was raped and she shouldn't be raped again by the system that should be protecting her, the victim.

Somehow I knew the maid would get the "short end" of this deal. Big money, big attorneys and big lies. Now I wonder if there will be a big fat law suit against the city or someone in New York. That would be the coup de grace (decisive finishing blow! act or event). ??? Who once said, "I will never represent a rape case unless it is an 80 year old nun with visible knife wounds?"

didn't he make arrangements with and escort service and thought the maid was the girl the service had send over?

I cannot believe that any thinking and decent woman would make a statement like yours
Heide: You sound like you know a bit about that kind of work Is that your kind of work? Or are you brain washed?

Quoting
didn't he make arrangements with and escort service and thought the maid was the girl the service had send over?

This is likely scenario - that would explain but NOT excuse Kahn behavior.
Rape charge would be still valid.

Whether or not that is the case, it is irrelevant to the charge he faced.

How could any thinking person ever believe that this wealthy, powerful, politically connected man would ever be convicted of these charges? Individuals such as Strauss-Kahn dance away from these types of crimes daily with impunity. The wealthy super connected simply do what they do with little or usually zero consequence. Shocked I am, simply shocked.

Another fine bit of "reporting" by Murdock's evil empire! Once they get done with him and his minions in London, the US ought'a kick him and Fox and the newspapers he's reduced to cheap lying scandal rags out of the country!

absolutely. Where do I cast my vote?

+6 # universlman 2011-07-13 15:57
the lesson here is not to get raped by one of the most powerful politicians on the planet - power, money and influence with a corrupt news organization on your side count for a lot - and lets see whatever may survive of any reputation this poor victim may have started with

+2 # cabotool 2011-07-14 07:27
Well. How about a poor reputation and $10,000,000? If I were on a jury with what I know to this point it would be $10 billion from Murdock. Justice could not happen to more deserving bit of scum

It is my understanding that this woman initially did not want to press charges against this old sexual hyped up man. She knew what the outcome was going to be eventually and she was right.

As a poor woman myself and countless others, I truly sympathize with all the pain, suffering and rejection she is being put through.

The Rich can buy everything in this world....but as LIARS, their money will be useless in hell!

I am a rich man (about $2M) by my own hard work at age 75. Let us hope that in this case that the extreme amount of evidence will not be trumped by money and this sad case will end with enormous damages being awarded to the poor woman. We must always worry about the Supreme corrupt idiots and there special form of "justice" that they give in return for money and "perks".

Being famous does not remove the slime.
Rape is rape
Rapers are rapists
Neither does money when the truth can find a voice.

Men hate women.
So they abuse them.

+1 # cabotool 2011-07-14 07:37
To the contrary. I totally agree with your first statements. I am 75 years old and I have never hated for long, even the woman who cost me $300,000. It took time to realize that she was a true friend for the good that I learned while losing the money and following evil results. I now regard Irada as a lesser friend.

I pity you for whatever you suffered that changed your point of view about men. How sad! You allowed a few actions to change your life for the worst. A person who hurts me causes me to hurt. I will never allow another person to permanently hurt me by changing the internal workings of my mind.

Hmmmm . . . so much for "innocent until proven guilty . . " for both of them, it seems . . .

The Murdoch news organization, in the U.K. and the U.S., is absolutely rotten to the core, owns hordes of politicians (including Prime Minister Cameron), and completely subverts democratic government. And there is even less regulatory resistance to Murdoch in the States than there is in the U.K. The future of Anglo-American journalism & civil discourse looks dark....regardless of this momentary setback for Murderoch.

+4 # cabotool 2011-07-14 07:41
I will only be happy if what I see as justice occurs and Murdoch loses his empire and rots in jail for the rest of his life. What would that be... maybe 10 years to do the job?

"The mills of the Gods grind slowly but they grind exceeding fine".

I would watch Fox news if you paid me $1,000/hour. But I would turn off the sound and play some good classical music. Who thinks that some good Mozart would cover up the evil?

The information from the Immigration Office (all papers that PUBLISHED it) is most sensitive one - and CRIMINAL.
Maid - whatever she said was true or NOT - has family in Guinea, in west Africa -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea
has autocratic government (dictatorship).
And wrong word could mean elimination of all involved. THIS IS TRUE CRIME OF US MEDIA.
