Intro: "In terms of its net impact on human welfare, News of the World has been the least evil of Rupert Murdoch's three-cornered Axis of Evil, the other two being the Fox News Network and the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal. Still, evil is evil."

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

"It was one thing to gratify the Schadenfreude of readers by hacking the cellphones of footballers, movie stars, politicians, and royals, who have the consolations of money, power, and fame. It was quite another to hack and manipulate the phones of a missing and murdered young girl, of victims of terrorism, and of the families of soldiers killed in Afghanistan."

Sorry Mr. Hertzberg, but I respectfully disagree. Cheating is cheating, just as stealing a penny is the same as stealing a billion dollars.

The problem, as I see it, is that the newspaper was hanged by the neck until dead and not the people who committed the criminal acts.

True, even though this particular publication has been, under Murdoch, a particularly snarky and vicious pain in the a**.

As a proud Aussie I have to express the shame of having Murdoch as a countryman. Murdoch is a cold blooded individual who has no problem pulling any trick in the book. It's about time the man was called to account once and for all.

" believe that the Titanic (Murdoch Media Empire in this case) has seen its last sunrise"----- a quote from the 1997 film Titanic.
