Frankly, I can't even bare to read the article. Why, one, is she given any exposure, and, two, how can you put her name and "President" in the same sentence. It's just feeding the beast, rewarding inappropriatene ss.

+17 # Guest 2010-07-24 10:16
We want her to be their man remember? She has zero chance as dumb as rocks as she is. If she wins the primary it ensures four more years.

+12 # Guest 2010-07-24 12:56
You're so sure? Read Corn on Reagan. And we had George Bush for 8 years. Unfortunately, she may be a logical next step in a world without logic or sense.

+3 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:03
Reagan and Bush appealed to the power elite like none before. As corporate as she is, I don't see Palin appealing to these folks that's all. They decide who to back. They handpicked both Reagan and G.W.. Palin, no. She is an anomaly.

+12 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:58
Don't be so sure she is too dumb to be the Con nominee and that she would not win. In California we have another celebrity movie-star Governor (steroid bodybuilder) who has helped ruin this state. Fox News/Rush/Murdoch/MIC will pick the candidate and put some Con with apparent credibility as the VP (a la Cheney picking himself as VP and then running the country as VP). The MIC/BigOil/Banksters love dumb people they can control (GW Bush) and the Corporate-Controlled Media will trash the Dem candidate.

People like Palin don't understand concepts like "community." They only understand "scheme," "mob, "and "smear."

+18 # Guest 2010-07-24 10:17
But they do understand "family." They are the definition of hillbilly inbreds aftr all.

Palin is the Opportunist-in-Chief. Too many dumb ass Americans have given her a voice in politics and helped to provide the six figure paychecks she now regularly receives. Incendiary imbecility pays well, just look at Rush, Coulter,Beck, Savage etc. Palin compared herself to Shakespeare last week after her "invention" of the word "refudiate." The Bard once lamented that Gold was the "common whore of mankind." How could the master have forseen of Sarah Palin?

+32 # Guest 2010-07-24 10:34
The press created this monster and she continues to dominate them with free publicity. I often have asked - if she didn't photograph so well, would they pay attention to her? She is the Paris Hilton of politics and any intelligent journalist should realize they are being used - and abused with her trivia, insults and ignorance. Give the public a break and grow up and stop pandering to the fringe as they are dangerous and a menace to the rest of us.

+12 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:06
Please don't insult Paris Hilton's looks. This is not even a close contest with this cross eyed karabu looking nitwit. Palin is homely and ugly I don't know what the hype is about. She is even uglier inside than outwardly.

"The Paris Hilton of Politics". Great!

+19 # Guest 2010-07-24 10:36
we act as if truth matters. it doesn't, this is all about creating the APPEARANCE of persecution and trading heavily on that, something she is particularly adept at. it endears her further to her crazy constituents

+9 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:08
She is an arch criminal not a victim. A special prison should be erected for white collar criminals that steal so much and laugh and spit at your face.

Can we start with Pelosi?

She steals more than Peyton Place Palin... and Pelosi says "Pass the bill and then you get to find out what is in it"......

Sounds like "They want bread? Let them eat cake"~!

+25 # Guest 2010-07-24 10:49
She is nothing but a money whore and wish we could ship her back and never hear from the bimbo again!!!!!

First of all, the GOP will elect any one who they manipulate. Ronald Reagan was one of them, GWBush was the other. Both were as dumb as a box of nails. So Palin might not be so hard to win the nomination.

On the other hand, Palin just might turn against them regardless, and do some very stupid things as pushing those Nuke Buttons! For her, it's all a matter of fantasy, like assuming leadership of the GOP.

Although I think the nation has sunk to a new level of stupidity on both party tickets, I still don't think the American people are ready for total destruction of a nation with Palin or the GOP in control.

Than again...maybe....I could be wrong. The nation has ceased to be the nation it was meant to be, and wasn't!

+14 # Guest 2010-07-24 14:59
Right on Foxtrottango!
I think that we underestimate Palin and those behind her at our peril! We did not take Bush seriously and look where we are now! Two wars, a recession, greed on Wall street, corruption and still counting! And yes, there are dumb voters around who will elect her and pretty soon we will hear the term Palineconomics like we have Reaganomics now!

+11 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:14
If you think the corporate elite who decided things has Palin in mind for their first choice smoke another doobie. Reagan (GE) and Bush (Big Oil) have been in bed all along. Palin just is along for the ride and as much bread as she can squirrel away.

+10 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:12
The GOP manipulated Reagan? I don't think so. He was on the same page with "conservatives" until the Alzheimers kicked in 2nd term. He all along was for the rich people only and his track record proves it. he created this countries first 5 trillion dollar deficit with his bogus Star Wars program which all experts now agree never had a chance to work and was designed as a way to fleece America and spend any money that might otherwise be available for middle America and social reform.

+18 # Guest 2010-07-24 11:35
The difference between Palin, and Bush and Reagan was that they had both been governors of large, economically and politically important states, so they had some real national credibility. If Palin thinks the media are tough, wait until she runs against some of good old boy right wingers n a few primaries. They will cut her up and leave her for dead.

+4 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:16
Yeah we progressives are having wet dreams about her winning the primary. I don't know what these people are talking about. They know not the corporate/power elite that will decide in the end. They won't choose Palin if the want the GOP to have a chance. And all the national polls reflect she would never be elected too. They'd be better off with Romney, lol.

+11 # Guest 2010-07-24 12:04
Palin keeps amusing me. By speaking out she drags herself down. Like Ms. Angle in NV she will hang herself by her own words someday.
She has not learned that she is no longer competing for a beauty queen crown. She is aiming to prove that GW Bush was not the most ignorant person ever to run for the office of president.

+14 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:20
Bush was not ignorant. Everything they did was planned and calculated down to when he would dump a load in the Airforce One bathroom. This was one of the most conniving Presidents of our time, and one of the mold of the arch-criminal Al Capone. You are ignorant if you do not think Bush knew what was happening, and that the outcome would be an endless war in Iraq where our great-grandchildren will be stomping their boots. He knew. That's why he belongs in the Hague. His criminal mens rea.

+3 # Guest 2010-07-24 21:49
Knowing what you are doing is not to be equated with knowing why you are doing something, and what the results of your actions will be. Bush knew what he was doing, he was just to ....ing dumb to know what the results would be.

I don't understand why we are even talking about this person. I agree with the poster above who said this is just feeding the beast. But more than that, why waste words on her.

+11 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:21
Not to me. Its very pleasing to know so many people hate her guts as she aptly deserves. I love to see an insulting comment about some accurate feature of palin, and then the +16 in green right next to it. THIS WOMEN IS POISON AND DESERVES AS MUCH NEGATIVE PUBLICITY AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.

+12 # Guest 2010-07-24 12:42
I agree that giving Palin so much "airspace" tends to keep her in the public eye, and that gives her more credibility. Unfortunately, that works in her favor with people who listen to 'faux' news.
We have got to get back on track to reach the people who look for truthfulness with real news,

+16 # Guest 2010-07-24 12:53
McCain had a good reason for picking Palin. Recall that McCain was number 795 out of a class of 800. And he didn't want to be the dumbest on the ticket he led.

+11 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:23
Not only dumb. Talk to some of the officers that served and were imprisoned in Vietnam with McCain. He is an anti-social nutjob with mild to moderate schizophrenia. This according to his Vietnam peers. But I fully agree.

Im a 100% disabled American vet and maybe it's my injuries but the question of how many Muslims live in NYC strikes me as about as rude as anything Palin said. We died in the WTC just like everybody else.

Every official Muslim chief cleric in the world declared the attacks on the WTC to be attacks on Islam. Are the Muslims who gave their lives in the WTC and their families less precious, less American, less heroic, less human than you?

Muslim children who lost their parents in the WTC don't matter? Muslim police, firefighters, ambulance drivers, medical emergency specialists who sacrificed their lives in the WTC don't matter?

why can no one, not even liberals anywhere respect our mourning, our suffering, our heroism, our love of country?

+4 # Guest 2010-07-24 13:06
why is hate the only response. Tolerance?: "tolerate" my love of country because I am Muslim: that is rich. and i am supposed to be grateful that you let me serve?

god save us because the hate you all live by comes exactly from you know who.

+5 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:27
i hate those that love criminals like Sara palin and George Bush. What's the big mystery isa? The hate comes from illegal wars and criminal corruption that disgusts me. And yes it is a DEMONIC level of hate. Hate is a beautiful word if it motivates you to expose and ultimately stop corrupt @ss wipes like most of today's GOP.

+12 # Guest 2010-07-24 13:09
WHY, oh WHY do you give this IMBECILE any credibility? The woman has shown herself to be an uneducated rube with NO moral fiber, No sense of self and NO emotional connection to humanity, as evidenced by her dragging her disabled infant hither and yon during her campaign for V.P. without regard for the hour, weather or venue. Give it up, David and quit feeding her obsession with "lame-stream media" attention. You are guilty of feeding her habit!

+12 # Guest 2010-07-24 13:29
The simple truth is that Palin has not suddenly morphed into an intellectually capable spark plug of keen writing and thinking. She was the woman who couldn't state which newspapers and periodicals she read. Her thoughts are written by others (thus, the small and closed camp of advisers) her actions are choreographed by professionals, her clothing by stylists. She is a puppet of the right and the Tea Party and after 8 years of a puppet presidency, idiot press conferences and monumental decisions designed only to benefit the wealthy and ignore their results in the national and world view, Palin would be the candidate of the foolish, fool-following and feeble-minded. Nothing more than a political cartoon character for the drama obsessed, low-information voter.

+6 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:29
Why Americans like Palin, a women of severely limited intelligence is beyond the pale. Obama must immediately revamp the education system. PEOPLE are stupid in this country far and wide. They don't know basic facts, let alone that Palin is not even a democrat but pro-fascist and for corporations not people. They just don't fathom these things.

+3 # Guest 2010-07-25 22:56
Yes, and it was low information voters who elected George Bush twice (or got him close enough that the remaining gap could be fixed.) It's comforting to think that Palin is just too stupid to become president, but then how do you explain Bush? I'm afraid it's true we always get the government we deserve. Americans' ignorance, distraction, and short attention span, combined with some electoral shenanigans of big corporations, could elect Palin. Don't underestimate our self-destructive tendencies. All we'd need would be a weak Democratic candidate and a strong third party candidate to siphon off enough progressive votes, and Palin could be in the White House. I hope I'm not being too negative about this, but the prospect is truly scary.

-14 # Guest 2010-07-24 13:37
Sarah Palin has made mistakes, but they are few and far between. I'm an Obama supporter and she is the only one who has a chance to defeat him.

+6 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:30
What chance? Its over then for the GOP. The corporate elite will back someone else. Watch and see....

+8 # Guest 2010-07-24 13:41
Forget that she isn't "tough" enough to be President; she isn't SMART enough to be President.
In 1992, Bill Clinton, a Rhodes Scholar was elected. In 2000, a Nobel Prize winner, Al Gore, got the most votes. We were treated to eight years of the dumbest President we've ever had (G.W. Bush is ranked 39 of 44 for nothing), and in 2008, the backlash to his ignorance gave us Barack Obama. The memory of Dubya will be too fresh in 2012 for Palin to have a prayer.

+9 # Guest 2010-07-24 16:33
Bush was dumb as a fox. No President, even Reagan, fleeced Americans more for the power elite. He is number 2 only to reagan in their book for the ground he covered an the permanent changes in our society he invoked to benefit the core elite only at the expense of middle America. he will be their next God, just as Reagan was rewritten, recreated and reincarnated. THEY ARE TROTSKYITES FOR THE ARISTOCRACY. They are not dumb in any way. They planned every move like solving a Calculus problem.

Sarah Palin is the show-bizzy nitwit idol of the manipulative right-wing conspiracy, which is out to reclaim the control over the country that W and his cohorts had until their finagled economy tanked. These agitators know that Americans who watch only Fox, never read a newspaper or news magazine (or anything at all), and otherwise devote their time and attention to entertainment glitz will vote on the instructions of the cabal. This "base" eagerly regurgitates slogans and otherwise falls for lies, contrived "exposes" and idiotic dress-up rallies. But they vote, and we can't forget that bald numerical detail. We can't afford to write off Sarah just because she's so stupid -- she has a base that will vote, as directed.

I don't think any of us liberal have been hiding for the past decade. I was involved with a wide variety of liberal sites even before GWB paid for the 2000 election, and a proud member of places like democraticunder ground.com, crooksandliars, bartcop, and oh-so many more sites. DU didn't open until just after the inauguration, but the WWW reverberated with the sound of the left and continues to do so for the future as well.

Only an idiot would take Palin seriously as a presidential candidate. Why does the establishment keep her in our collective faces? Do they disrespect us that much? The Quayles, the Palins. Is that the best of the republican party? After the mess of the Bush Administration? do we want more of the same? Give the keys back the the people who drove us over the cliff? Those of you who vote republican deserve your fate but don't take me with you down a dead end street. We have been there before.

I'm all for the US finally having a female president; HOWEVER, Sarah Palin isn't the choice. I don't think the US will ever have a female president because the country must maintain it's "macho" image that it believes gives it global respect. It's a sad reality coming from a country that still insists that there is equality between the sexes.

Only an idiot would take Palin seriously. Why does the establishment put palin into our collective faces all the time. Keeping the nightmare alive? Does the establishment disrespect the American people that much? It's much more then toughness. A thug in the streets are tough. Are we going to put them in the White House? Are we going to give the keys to the car to the same people who drove us off the cliff? To the party that inherited a surplus and ran the national debt through the roof? I rather have Daffy Duck in the White House then the Quayles and the Palins the republicans throw at us. If that's the best candidates they can produce God help us.

What are you all afraid of? She is a governor from a small state that has spoke her mind about what the press is all about. It is funny that two weeks after her being put on the ticket, the world knew her family, record, and personal life yet the press had 2 years to look at Obama and neglected to do so. As Tom Brokaw said on Charlie Rose's show the friday before the election; "We really don't know what Obama stands for nor do we know how he will govern".

This was typical of the media, claim ignorance when it was their job to vet the person running for president. They decided on the candidate without knowing who he was. To this day regardless of the constant mistakes he has been making, they refuse to, most of the time, even report if it would show him as incompetent.

As usual, you get what you deserve. Just hope the country is strong enough to make it past his agenda.

Go to Hulu.com and watch Charlie Rose's recent talk with John Sexton, President of NYU. In addition to sharing his vision for higher education he talks brilliantly about what's happening to the press and politics at the moment. He really nails it.

A little history please. Ronald Reagan was no more than a shill for the fascists in this country, from his betrayal of the Screen Actor's Guild to his pimping for General Electric. I once predicted that the American public would never be stupid enough to elect 1)Richard Nixon 2) Ronald Reagan but realized by Bush that they surely might and then did. If you are counting on the great unwashed masses to preserve liberty and democracy, lot's of luck.

As a liberal/radical retired newspaper columnist, I'm a little uneasy with an off-the-record website in which "reporters" discuss such things as ways to be critical of a political candidate. Part of my problem is the blurring of the meaning of reporter -- meaning one things on a regular daily newspaper, another in opinion magazines. I was once a regular reporter, but once I became a columnist, mising my own labeled opinion with facts, I ceased calling myself a reporter. But with the mix we have today, it's little wonder that the general public seems to believe that all reporters have a political bias that's reflected in their reporting. All that said, I believe Sarah Palin is a danger, not because she's dumb -- I think she's intuitively smart in a lot of ways -- or because she's conservative, but because she has the ability to mislead the ill-informed and uniformed masses.

0 # Guest 2010-07-30 12:52
I don't think the power elite trusts Palin enough to do their bidding. She's like Gollum...useful to them for harping on Obama for every little thing, while deals are being made in backrooms.

I believe that Mitt Romney will be the 2012 GOP candidate for the presidency and that he will select Jeb Bush as a running mate (or possibly Bobby Jindal if the Bush name still has high negatives in their polling data). If Romney / Bush doesn't capture the White House in 2012, then Senator Scott Brown is a practical shoo-in. He fits the mold that they are looking for: telegenic looks, not too bright, compelling family and personal narrative, and the right set of experiences.
