Paul Waldman: "Look at the targets conservatives have taken aim at in the last couple of years: access to the ballot box, unions, organizations representing the poor, organizations protecting reproductive rights, and more. The assault is not just on ideas or policies (though there's plenty of that, too) but on the institutions that undergird the Democratic Party and the progressive movement."

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.
General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.
Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Even if the unions are completly emasculated by 2012, they will still be held up by the right wing as a justification of using Corporate financing.
By 2014, their takeover may be complete and if a Republican is President, they will declare a State of Emergency and send in their Privatized Army to disband elected official throughout the entire country.
wait a minute...are we a fascist state? huh?! Wa Happened?!
Joseph Stalin
Still true!
Since organized labor was seen as the one power center that could challenge the political hegemony of the ruling elite and its corporate allies, it was inevitably crushed or made powerless. The poor formed an underclass, viewed with suspicion or outright contempt. Under some regimes, being poor was considered akin to a vice." 14 POINTS OF FASCISM
access to the ballot box:" Meaning that Republicans resist having dead people, non-citizens, and felons vote. Oh My!
"unions:" Meaning that Republicans want to break the strangle-hold unions have on the public coffers and the bankrupting effects of Public Unions negotiating their benefit packages with the Democrats they pay to elect.
"organizations representing the poor:" Meaning Organizations that pretend to represent the poor but are mostly after power and money.
"organizations protecting reproductive rights:" Meaning, we can only guess, that Republicans are opposed to the use of government funds to terminate the lives of unborn children.
Yes, Those Republicans are certainly nasty!
What're ya gonna do about it punk? Whining seems to be a pretty ineffective weapon.
