Oil War

Iran, at loggerheads with the West over its nuclear program, said on Tuesday it would stop the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf if sanctions were imposed on its crude exports. Iran has already informed the World that if it does, she's going to block the Strait of Hormuz, which is to bottle up most of the Mideastern oil, which would be a severe blow to the entire World and World economy, almost the worst thing that could happen outside of actual war--to stop the flow of oil, the thing the whole World has been fearing for years now.
About 15 million barrels of crude oil pass through the Strait of Hormuz on a typical day. About a fifth of the world's oil supply goes through the strait. Much of the Persian Gulf relies on the Strait of Hormuz to export its petroleum and reach the ocean, making it one of the world's most important oil supply routes. So, the World's supply of oil has already been cut down considerably and is rapidly being cut down further. The scarcer it is, the higher prices they can get. And also, it's their one weapon they can really use effectively.
Actually about a 40% loss of oil since those happy carefree days of the one-dollar-a-barrel oil, which is all they were willing to give the Arabs for this very cheap black sticky dirty substance a mere 40 years or so ago. The shortage becomes so serious, it may even precipitate the Oil War in the West's effort to secure the oil that it needs to survive in its present rich, industrialised condition.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Tde -- wake up Get your story straight. Iran is not at loggerheads with the US/Israel over its nuclear program. The US/Israel want to start a war with Iran for their own imperialistic agenda. Iran has a 100% legal right to develop nuclear energy and because it is being threatened with war by nuclear bomb states a prefect right to build nuclear bombs.

It is important never to accept the conceptual frame that the US/Israel use. Once you accept their frame, no facts you present matter. In fact, the frame is false. Iran has the legal rights. The US/Israel have no right to threaten any nation with war and they have no right to impose sanctions on any nation. Sanctions are an act of war. The US/Israel is already at war against Iran. What Iran is trying to do is get others in the world to notice the US/Israeli aggression.

The US and Israel are criminal regimes. They have started wars many, many times and killed innocent people in huge numbers. These are outlaw regimes. Not to say that every time you mention their names is to be complicit in their crimes against peace and against humanity.

If Ron Paul wasn't doing so well in Iowa, we would be at war with Iran. If he looses Iowa the tension with Iran would suddenly go up,

PS If a link doesn't click in it usually can be googled from my experience.

Obama likes to compromise I don't think there will be a war unless Ron Paul doesn't win the primaries.
