Occupy LA stops Eviction
California woman's case show how the movement can use its muscle against banks.
Rose Gudiel did everything to stop being evicted. She managed to get her job back and kept her rent in escrow but the bank refused to take it saying the case was closed, until Occupy LA got involved.
In Philadelphia Cheri Honkala is running for Sheriff under the Green Party banner with the vow no eviction of homeowners who did nothing wrong but can’t afford their rent. During the first depression several communities outlawed evictions, instead of a lot of homes becoming vacant.
Cheri Honkala spoke at Occupy Philly telling of homeowners who were self-imprisoned in their homes for fear the sheriff would throw their belongings out and padlock their home.
My neighbor’s sister in Lancaster County can be evicted very soon.
Why don’t the occupation movements right now start 24 hour silent vigils at the homes of people being evicted, less silent if the nearby neighbors get involved or strongly approve,

PS Why can’t Occupations have phones with buttons to push for different messages and mail boxes instead of just web sites. For those who are computer illiterate and those like me who are illiterate enough not to navigate being on Facebook. Rep. Rangle suggested something similar.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.
General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.
Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

On second thought considering elsewhere in Chicago, one cheer for the Chicago police
I have yet to see on the web new sites where occupy groups helped specific people not be hurt by the banks through eviction, but plenty of older sites where those trying to block eviction was arrested. Even with cities that somewhat quick to arrest, now no longer arrest for this reason. This is something to celebrate.

Now with direct action against individual oppression by the banks one doesn’t have to shop around for minority input.
