Seeger is approaching 90 but still has the energy (though no longer the voice) to be a prophet, an amazingly cheerful one. I wish we could sing this song in our church. If I led our youth, I would want to sing it with them. It's a hymn and not just about the oil spill. Anyone know how to get a copy of the music and lyrics?

Once again Pete Seeger, America's troubadour, has a song that speaks volumes and is perfect for the time. What a blessing!

I went to a Pete Seeger concert in Palo Alto in 1956. It is incredible that he is still going. What a blessing he is. What a special message he has!!

Pete is 91 this year. I saw him the first time in New York City at a campaign for Henry Wallace for President in 1948 sharing the stage with Woody Guthrie.

Pete: What can I say about this man that is enough? I saw him in Greenwich Village during the early sixties. He is an unrecognized American treasure. He is also the main singer of the Woodie Guthrie song that should really be our national anthem "This land is our land" (not the war anthem that currently represents our country.)

I've sung your songs and I have loved your great heart and great strength and undying positivity. I sang with my friend Earl Robinson when Paul Robeson left us. It's great to see you still so involved. You are truly one of the great ones! I love you.

Peace,

David Sugich

David: I now live in Bellingham WA and I was a friend of Earl Robinson who persuaded him to move back to Seattle and I was with him a few days before that tragic accident on Admiral Way that took him life and eventually the life of the other driver as in remorse over Earl's death took his own life.

Dear Ted, I would love to know more about this since I left Santa Barbara on my "spiritual" journey, and didn't return there for around five years when I brought my new wife to meet her new mother in law. I left a lot of my friends behind, and I didn't know what happened with Earl. We first met at an English Pub where I would sing as the wandering minstrel and Earl would come in and we would trade the guitar back and forth.. I admired him so much! He was a very generous man. Actually, I had met his girlfriend, Joanne, first. She had come in and was just having a glass of wine and I happened to sing the song Joe Hill. She asked me if I'd like to meet the man who wrote it. Well, of course, I said, and then over time we became good friends. He really took me under his wing and was so kind to me. Please if you have any more details about Earl, I would really like to hear. I am still in Santa Barbara, and I would like to give you my e-mail.. So I hope the host passes it on to you.
