Anonymous to Wall Street: Expect Us

By Adbusters

25 August 11

Jammers, dreamers, patriots,

Anonymous has just released a video communique endorsing #OCCUPYWALLSTREET. Using language from our first Tactical Briefing, the video calls on protesters to adopt the nonviolent Tahrir-acampadas model. On the 17th of September, it says, "flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months ... Once there, we shall incessantly repeat one simple demand in a plurality of voices."

See also signs of support for S17 on Anonymous's Twitter and websites.

Meanwhile S17 is surging ahead internationally. Simultaneous occupations of financial districts are now being planned in New York City, Madrid, Milan, London, Paris and San Francisco. With a bit of luck, this list of participating cities will expand.

If we can pull together just the right mix of nonviolence, tenacity and strategic smarts, S17 could be the beginning of the global revolution we've all been dreaming about for so long ... wouldn't that be lovely.

for the wild,

Culture Jammers HQ

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Good way to accomplish what they can't do at the ballot box.

What I am afraid of is that the people who do this will find out who the police really work for. Shades of the "hero" MacArthur and the veterans tent city.
Unfortunately I now live in Thailand or I promise I would be there.

I hope you can pull this together. I recebtly wrote a letter to my newspaper suggesting that people recall the Solidarity and Peaceful Protests of Rev.Martin Luther King and his supporters as well as the peaceful protests of Tahrir. Our VOICE, in Peaceful Solidarity, is all we have left...all that keeps us from becoming peons to the warmongering, power seeking, greedy, crooks out to rob us of our very identity. We are AMREICANS who still can and will dream America back to wholeness and justice for all.

This action should be protected by the First Amendment and I hope they can pull it off and not be crushed by NYPD Blue. I'm sorry I can't participate. Good Luck!

I will be there in spirit, all the best!!! I'm a little worried that thug groups or even undercover cops could infiltrate this and be disruptive. Any plans to guard against this???

Exactly what do they wish to accomplish by clogging the streets of lower Manhattan? Bring the global economy to a halt? Good luck with that!

"occupy Wall Street for few months"? Who can afford that? What about their jobs?

"What about their jobs?"

What jobs? Or hadn't you noticed?

When the group is finished occupying Wall Street, bus people to Washington, DC, to occupy the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court. Prohibit lobbyists from interacting with already irredeemably corrupt politicos and do the patriotic thing and throw the bums out.

Thing to watch out for is "anarchists" (actually undercover cops, or hired by them) who will set fires, smash windows, and generally provide excuses for the police to get violent on the protestors. Be prepared. As a low-tech minimum, swim goggles and a bandana soaked in water or vinegar can provide some protection against tear gas or pepper spray. For more detailed remedies/preventive measures, see http://www.starhawk.org/activism/trainer-resources/teargas.html.

Conquer Wall Street by refusing to play Wall Street's game. Culture jamming, throw a spanner in the works. BTW Texan4Peace, as an Anarchist I believe your misuse of the idea of anarchist goes a long way toward helping the Corporate agenda, though I would like to believe that it is unintended. Anarchists are not violent, it is corporate America that starts, funds, and promotes war, death, destruction and funds all manner of agent provocateurs meant to distract the public from realizing the truth.
