We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

Segments of this interview would make great political ads for the Obama Administration if they are serious about changing the system. Moyer's statements would work just as well to explain/ support the 99%/Occupy movement.

Moyers is a one of a disappearing breed: a journalist/commentator who actually does good work. I like that the biggest story of our time is the disparity of wealth. I first became aware of this during Reagan's presidency when by some accounts the disparity between a CEO and an assembly line worker pay was almost 400 to 1. It hasn't come down since then (that was in 1988). At about that time I remember that people like like Michael Milken were considered scum. And that is how Mitt Romney made his $250 MILLION. Also remember the Savings and Loan crisis? All due to deregulation! The Milton Friedman Free Market idiots have that fantasy (and that is all it is: FANTASY) believe that free market will solve all problems. Then Clinton continued the loosening of regulations allowing financial markets which led to housing/mortgage crisis and then the crash of the whole financial system in 2007-08, mostly due to rampant speculation that produces nothing. You will notice people, that none of your pundits mention any of that when talking about the crash. They are worthless.

I've lived through all of this with you and find myself agreeing with every word.

Cf. I think you would appreciate Elizabeth Warren on the Daily Show. She sees the big picture as well.

It is most refreshing to again enjoy the company of the courageous and conscientious Mr. Moyers.
Today in the western world arises a great cry - "Austerity!" Our National Optimists Party's cry is not austerity, but prosperity. We do not begrudge the one percenters their prosperity, their secure well-being or their big bonuses. In truth, we favor (and can deliver) prosperity, secure well-being and big bonuses...for everybody.
The old zero sum game, the old economics of scarcity, the old politics of plutocracy - all are in their end stages. A bright new age beckons: the Era of Equality. The Economics of Abundance is ours to freely adopt. The florescence of humanity is upon us.
All we now experience is analogous to the struggling butterfly breaking free of its cocoon, completing its metamorphosis.
We are on the threshold of a new era, one of great abundance and progress such as humanity has never seen. To cross that threshold, to enter that era, that is the mission of our National Optimists Party.
